Während meines Urlaubs auf der Isle of Wight verbrachte ich eine glückliche Stunde in dem kleinen Dorf Godshill – was für ein passender Name – sehr schön erhalten, aber statt der echten Gebäude machte es viel mehr Spaß, das Dorf in Miniatur zu betrachten, ja, denn eine Familie des Dorfes begann vor ungefähr 50 Jahren in ihrem Garten mit diesem Projekt, indem sie zunächst die alte Dorfkirche nachbauten und dann im Laufe der Jahre fast das ganze Dorf und noch Sehenswürdigkeiten aus der Nachbarschaft, alle in eine vergangene Zeit versetzt, und dabei sehr viel Geschick im Miniaturgärtnern und Modellbau entwickelten.
Ich konnte gar nicht aufhören, Fotos zu machen, die selbst entworfenenen Puppen und kleinen Szenen, oft mit Musik, zu bewundern – und das alles im Maßstab 1:10!
While being on holiday on the Isle of Wight I spent a happy hour in Godshill – what a name – an old village, well preserved, but it was much more fun to visit it in its miniature edition, yes, a local family started the project in its back garden about 50 years ago, first building the village church en miniature and then over the years the whole village and parts of the famous neighbourhood, all set in a bygone time, with a developing skill in miniature gardening and building.
I could not stop taking photos and admiring the dolls and the little scenes, very often with a musical sound – and everything in 1:10 scale!
