Haus "Waldfrieden" - 1958 VEB Grünhainichen - "Peace of the wood"

Ein kleines Puppenhäuschen mit einem wundervollem Namen.
A small dolls house with a wonderful name.
Producer and year are sure because of a photo of the same house on ebay.de which still had the label under the bottom, it has also much in common with "House Sunshine".
At first I took photos with these two Caco women in front of it but the effect was too cold for a house on the edge of the wood. I looked for old decoration for a front garden to emphasize the mood of the house.

This small type of a dolls house - which is so difficult to furnish and which symbolizes clearly the dream of a little house of ones own (at least realized in the nursery) - was offered by many dolls house manufactories of that time:
Moritz Gottschalk

And the wonderful name was popular for many years before and after the 50s in Germany - just google it and you will still find a lot of cafès and restaurants romantically situated near a wood:

Blues - Jazz - Swing

This fixed group of dolls from the 50s was probably meant as a piece for decoration. It is an example for the love of the exotic at that period, collecting and displaying souveniers of places people often had never been to. Countries like Italy, Hawaii, the Caribbean or Africa were the most popular ones.
By size they also fit well into a 50s dolls house - I let them sing in my "Crailsheimer Bar" and here they perform for a small cheerful wedding party of edi celluloid dolls.

Kaufladen - Update 1962 Crailsheimer - shop

This is the shop in the condition I got it years ago - here I blogged about it. I turned the grocer's shop into a bar or pub - mainly to have a place for all the miniature alcohol accessories I had collected.
I was lucky to get another shop for little money which was not complete either but which still featured the display window on the left. I could connect it quite easy to the back wall of my shop.
Die "neue" Bar. - The "new" bar.
Neues Personal, eine Blues-Band? - New staff, a band of blues singers?
Advertisements behind the counter cover the empty drawers. They are made of covers of old matchboxes.

There are also typical give-away articles of that period, colourful stick pins.

Biegepuppen - Baps - posable dolls

The photo above shows my entire collection of Baps posable dolls: 2 items. Clothes made of felt, shoes made of metal.

By whom, when and where these rarely found dolls were manufactured?
They were made by Edith von Arps during the 1940s and 1950s near Nuremberg, Germany.
They did not have the success of Erna Meyer's posable dolls although they look quite similar.

Edith von Arps, Burgkunstadt i. Ofr.

I only found her mentioned in old magazines in 1957 announcing a new series of dolls in traditional costumes and 1953 promoting her small doll theatre in which her fairy tale dolls were moved on a stick.
Here you see the little theatre on an auction photo.

I wondered a lot about the uniform of my Baps doll. From all I read about Edith von Arps I assumed that she clad the dolls according to the wishes of her customers - that means American soldiers stationed in her home town who bought dolls in fairy costumes or different German traditional costumes. So my lady most likely wears a woman soldier uniform.
I studied websites about women in arms during and after the II.World War, American and British, and I read so many interesting facts and stories, saw many similar uniforms - just a little problem with the mostly black and white photos - I even found more wonderful cloth dolls in uniform - but none of them was exactly like the one of my doll: neither the Women's Royal Naval Service (WRNS) nor the Auxiliary Territorial Service... I got curious and even ordered two books about women at arms but I was not lucky either. Does anybody of my readers recognize the uniform by great chance?

Last time I posted about the 60s kitchen furniture of Paul Hübsch, now I present an (end of the?) 60s living room in its original sale box.
Cupboards and table are made in simple white matt-lacquered style, only the seats are a little bit more daring.
Casual modern pattern of the seat covers, easygoing (and uncomfortable) divan and stools instead of couch and armchairs.

At the same time - or a bit earlier? - this more traditional looking livingroom was sold. Flower pot and books are the same, just like the form of the table.
