Mythos Märklin
in Oberhausen
Die Firma Märklin aus Göppingen in Süddeutschland ist heute vor allem für ihre Modelleisenbahnen bekannt. Nur wenige wissen, dass das Unternehmen vor 150 Jahren mit Puppenküchen und anderem Mädchenspielzeug begann.
The company Märklin from Göppingen in the south of Germany is famous for its model trains. It is not generally known that 150 years ago it all began with metal toys for girls, like doll's kitchen, doll's hearths, or bathrooms for dolls.

Aus einer privaten Sammlung sind 500 exklusive Stücke für ein Jahr in Oberhausen zu sehen, zum Teil waren sie noch nie ausgestellt. Ich habe mich natürlich auf das Mädchenspielzeug konzentriert, obwohl Zeppeline aus den 20ern oder U-Boote aus den 30ern, und die vielen anderen filigranen Blechspielzeuge, alle bunt bemalt, natürlich alle voll funktionsfähig und in wunderbarem Erhaltungszustand, auch sehr attraktiv waren.
500 exclusive items of an anonymous collector are exhibited for one year, some of them have never been shown before. I concentrated on girl's toys although tin submarines from the 30s or zeppelins from the 20s, and all the other fine and richly painted tin toys, all well preserved and fully functioning like all Märklin products, were attractive, too.

Unglaublich: warmes und kaltes Wasser für die Badewanne - der Ofen im Puppenstuben-Badezimmer kann mit Spiritus beheizt werden.
Unbelievable: warm and cold water for the bathtub - the oven can be heated with ethyl alcohol.
Natürlich mit echtem Wasser funktionierendes Miniatur-Klosett.
